Mrs. Mildred N. Howerton, 57, Waynetown Road, a resident of Montgomery County for the past two years, died Friday morning in her home where she had been in failing health for the past six weeks. She was born Aug. 17, 1905, in Jennings County and her parents were Edward C. and Alice Machino Nordloh. In 1933 she married Robert N. Howerton. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and graduated from Manual High School in Indianapolis. She lived in South Bend for a number of years before moving to Crawfordsville. Her husband is associated with the Indiana Bell Telephone Co. Survivors include her husband, her mother; two sons, Robert E. of Pensacola, Fla., and James A., at home; a daughter, Susie, at home; and a sister, Evelyn Holmes of Chicago. Last rites are announced for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church with Rev. Henry F. Ward officiating, and interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. There will be a Rosary service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday.
